1st Place Chicken, Overall Grand Champions
This weekend was just about as perfect as we could ask for! For the first time this season we had two whole days of warm dry weather at a contest. It was marvelous! On Friday night we celebrated Cinco de Mayo by making some charred flank steak tacos using our PG500 Pellet Grill. We have absolutely fallen in love with this little cooker. Not only are we smoking our competition chicken and brisket on this guy, but it’s also versatile enough to grill up dinner the night before a contest. We’re about ready to get a second one for the house, that way we don’t have to lug it in and out of the trailer each time we want to use it.
The perfection didn’t stop there though! The awards ceremony started off by Burnt Finger BBQ being called to the stage for 1st place chicken, with a perfect score to boot! We then made return trips for 6th place ribs, 10th place pork, and 7th place brisket. All of that added up to Burnt Finger BBQ being named the overall Grand Champions of the Lansing Daze Festival! This was an official state championship event, so we have now secured our bid for the 2017 American Royal Invitational held later this year!
